Do you Want to have a Punjabi affair of food? And most importantly in
Chennai? Then you have less to think about! Here’s a new restaurant with a
Punjabi twist. The perfect decorum and mix up of spices in the best way
possible, makes this restaurant one of the top picks in Chennai. When we entered the floor was quite full so I am glad we made a reservation ahead. The place is very vibrating, staff so helpful and friendly.
The menu served here is mainly Indian and Chinese. One of the main reasons for its popularity is the delicious food items which are prepared using the correct blend of spices.
The most important factor of any restaurant anywhere in world would be, its venue and the interior designing of the place. “THE PATIALA HOUSE” ticks in all the boxes in the above aspects. Situated at Chetpet , this will become a sure shot hub of some amazing food.
Starting off with the starters, they provide multiple varieties of soups, off which the Manchow soup, hot & sour soup and lime coriander soups stands out from the rest.
They also got the best-in-town paneer classics that would definitely impress and to name a few of the top picks, Achari panner, Schezwan paneer and Dragon paneer.
Apart from paneer-classics some other mind-bobbling starters include Butter baby corn, Veg. Galoti kebab and stuffed dingri are the starters that you definitely shouldn’t miss.
I bet you will be so much in love with the starters that you will repeat the
order!! You must definitely try this new syringe paani puri..
Moving to the main course, the much awaited Punjabi star dish of Sarso Da Saag and Makkai Di Roti, and adding on to that, the combo of Pudina Paratha/Garlic Naan and the Patiala Paneer/dal makhani makes your tongue go crazy and is definitely worth a try.
The Punjabis however don’t crave much for rice-varieties but the
PATIALA HOUSE does not lack in these varities and the Veg. Tawa Pulav is the best pick of all the rice varieties out there. The perfect blend of spices and paneer, makes it the must-have dish.
Finishing things on a sweet note is as important as how MS Dhoni
finishes things for the Indian cricket team. Yes!! I am talking about the
irresistible desserts! As expected, the lassi and chaas(buttermilk) would be on the cards for a typical Punjabi restaurant.
But the highlight of this restaurant is the varieties and combinations of the desserts. The types of lassi available were, Sweet Lassi, SPL. Lassi, Kaake di Lassi and others, of which these three I tried impressed me the most. The restaurant also offers handful varieties of ice-creams, mojitos and mocktails. The paan ice of Patiala house, is the best ever I have ever had. There is nothing better than that. The combinations of mojitos
and mocktails also impress me the most and the names of these mocktails creates a different level of curiosity within us.
The Fire and Ice mocktail, as the name suggests is a blend of sweet and
spice with sugar coated at the brim of the glass and chillies and ice cubes
floating making the mocktail really spicy. It burns down the throat and gives
you chills. Maybe they couldn’t have chosen a better name than this for this
There are varieties of shots available too. The one that impressed me the
most was the pan-flavoured shots. The other unique fact about this restaurant is
that they offer sweet pan and other flavours of pan, making it a complete round-
up of the ‘feels’ of northern India.
